A Few Things To Know Before You Adopt

 

You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt. In some cases, proof of age may be required.

 

You must have a valid ID showing your name and present address. Valid identification consists of a current driver's license, major credit, passport or current utility bill.

 

If you are married and not accompanied by your spouse Adirondack Save A Stray must be able to speak with the husband or wife. If the potential adopter is living with a roommate, the roommate must be contacted.

 

No Gift Adoptions !!! The person who will be responsible for the pet must be present at the time of adoption to in order to sign the adoption agreement.

 

Puppies can only be left alone for three hours a day at the most! An adopter that comes home for lunch is acceptable

 

You must own your own home to adopt.  Prior approval is needed for renters.

Welcome Home

Finalize the adoption contract and fee. Your new companion is officially ready to begin their happy tail with you.
